Man...sorry to hear that. I had my entire golf bag stolen about 4 years ago while checking in at a local muni. It was supposed to be my first round of the season, but I think it was some stupid high school kids who were at practice that took off with it. Worst part was that my car keys and my cell phone were in my bag! Oh! I'm super paranoid about leaving my clubs around ANYWHERE now.

i know, don't you hate those stupid high school kids!

To the OP, thats one of the reasons why i keep my leupold in a pocket in my bag. It comes in a case that i could easily attach to my bag, but thats like having your wallet in your back pocket when walking around New York city.

I'm always sorry when someone has something stolen from them. Over the years I have had 3 cars stolen. As far as the golf courses go the only thing stolen from my car was a book of Michigan courses with discount cupons. It was worth about $20. It was taken from the basket on my cart when my buddie and I stopped in for a bottle of pop at the turn. We were not inside 2 minutes. Now I park where I can see the cart or bag if walking or someone is always with the cart or bags.

Yes you should say more, becauase i am in high school, and hate it when people make sterotypes about us. I am well mannered, and have never stolen anything, i hate it when i get put into a group that doesn't fit me at all. I often times find my friends doing stupid things like sometimes stealing, and even have to tell them to stop.

Also, i hated you sarcastic comment about the motorcycle, it almost sounds like something a high schooler would say!

That is a shame... Like a previous poster said, I don't know you but I feel bad for you... There are some really sorry individuals out there... Not that it helps much now but IMO there is such a thing as karma... The jackass that stole your rangefinder will get his sooner or later...

Damn... I'll all paranoid about getting my stuff stolen again. Guess it's good!

On to topic. The other day I went golfing and had a 43 on the front 9 playing with some guy to witness the legitamacy of it all (and turns out he looked so familiar because he gives lessons at the range their all the time!). I went on to the back 9 and the course was crowded so it turned into that stop and go pace that kind of throws off my tempo.

Some people caught up with me. Every now and then I hit with people that for whatever reason I don't like and one of these guys was the worst. A young kid with his dad. The dad was ok, but the kid was a douche. Not very good, acted arrogant, and through tantrums. And by kid I mean around my age... haha. College, maybe younger.

He stole all the fun I had left that round.

It's ok though. I'm still happy about that 43. (which by the way was a really weird 43. I only hit 2 fairways and double bogied one and SAVED the hell out of the other with just a bogey.)

that does suck, i hate it when i get paired with horrible golfers(cannot get off the tee), or jerks.

dude you know you were once a horrible golfer too.I only hate playing with golfers that play slow. I don't care if they hit it 3 feet as long as they get up to it and hit it.

On the original topic i am sorry to hear that. Now i am paranoid whenever leaving my bag.

Man, that is a terrible story. That being said, I do not trust leaving my bag anywhere where I cannot see it. Not even just to go to the bathroom, unless I'm out where my cart is parked right beside facilities on the course, and the only people I'm around are those I am with.

I have a beautiful Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Button Back that gets a boat load of attention when I'm around the practice greens. The interest in this club has lead me to buy a generic head cover. Nothing screams steal me more than a SC head cover. I was at the range today and noticed a bag that was unattended for at least half an hour. Prominently displayed was a SC and couldn't believe that it was not stolen by the time the owner came back around.

Geez this is pretty bad having four pages of stuff that was stolen. I never had anything stolen from me, but i golfed in a junior camp and at the end of the lesson we would head out and play. One of the kids in the group ahead of us dropped his seven iron, then a kid in my group picked up and swung it, said it was just his size and stuffed it into his bag. It was part of a rental set and i knew the owner so after the round i said that he found a club on the course. The kid gave me a glare and handed it back. I was surprised the he would even attempt to steal in front of the group.

Thank you for this thread. It really raises awareness of theft at a golf course.

I never keep an eye on my stuff, I just assumed people at a golf course already had money.

But thanks again, I will be on it this year

Stolen GPS by a squirrel

Here is a Golf Guru story with the heading of "it can only happen to me".

I've had my Guru less than a month and was using it on a golf outing to Myrtle Beach, SC. We were playing Myrtle Beach National West when on the 12 green we noticed some squirrels wandering around our carts. Shortly after that one of the squirrels had an object in its mouth and after ivestigating the carts, realized a squirrel had stolen my GPS out of the cart. We chased the squirrel hoping it would drop it but instead it went up a tall pine tree. We tried throwing golf balls at it to no avail. The squirrel just sat on a limb with the Guru in its mouth. Another group behind us came up and offered to help with offering the squirrel some food. The little thief finally came down the tree, dropped the Guru and went to the food. The damage to the Guru was devestating. Most buttons were chewed and broken off. The screen was so badly scratched from its teeth that most of the information was not readable. One of the guys in our group thought that the Guru folks might could use a slogan that the guru is so accurate that even squirrels find the need to use one on the golf course.

After golf, I inquired at the Myrtle Beach National proshop to see if they were going to step up and take some responsibilty as there were no warnings from the starter nor any posted regarding the squirrels. The answer I got was there was nothing they could do. There were several things they "could" do but decided not to. They are no longer on my play list.

Even there is no warranty for such incidences, the Golf Guru folks have repaired the unit to new condition...and at no cost.
