Holy cow this thing is long. Maybe too long in fact: I pulled my drive on 6 into a marsh that I've never been able to reach from the tee box, but that's a whole 'nother story

On the other hand, with a light tail wind and very hard/dry fairways, I was nearly pin high and just to the left of the green on a 340 yard par 4

I'm probably 20 yards longer - on average - with this ball than I was with my old cheapo Nike Power Soft; however, I'm not sure yet whether I can get used to the feel of it around the greens (sadly reminiscent, to me anyway, of the old Top Flites...).

Has anyone else played this ball? If so, what are your thoughts? One thing: I've decided I definitely need to toss the "soft" low compression old guys' balls I've been hitting and find something more responsive off the tee. I still have a pretty hard/fast swing for a guy my age. I'm NOT paying 40 bucks a dozen for Pro V1s or Nike Platinums, though, so this may be a good compromise for me.

You may wish to try the Titleist NXT Tour. It has a low compression, and it is softer around the green than the non Tour NXT, the DT Solo, as well as the HX Hot ( IMHO ). I have a slower swing speed than many fellows, but I can get the NXT Tour out there as well as a harder distance ball with the added benefit of a softer feel around the green. Good luck.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
