So I have another forum concerning club fitting and this is related. If I didn't want to go to Golf Galaxy to get fit, and since I'm having trouble finding a reputable person in my area to do a club fitting for the clubs I want, my next option was demo days. Like I said in my other topic, I am interested in getting the new Taylor Made 2009 burner irons. Now my local course is having a demo day at the end of May (a little late for me, but may go somewhere else if the info you guys give me warrants it) and Taylor Made will be there with free club fitting/launch monitors. Now my questsions are this: will they be able to get me fit for exactly what I want there and how can I go about getting those clubs made for me? I mean will they order em through their own website or will they have all the modifications I need written down so I could go into Golf Galaxy and just have em made for me? This seems like a good option since it would be Taylor Made themselves fitting me, hence they "should" be the most knowlledgeable about their own products, but I'm not sure about the ordering process and how in depth my fitting may be. So if you guys could share some info with me that'd be great!!!.

A lot of it depends on what kind of equipment they bring. They may have a full blown tour truck there and will fit you and then make what you need on the spot. I have heard of that happening before. They would probably have you buy them 'through' the course for the sales tax purposes, but you might walk out with your new clubs that day.

More than likely, they will fit you and write down exactly what you need to get. You can then take that info and go to the pro shop and they will order them through their account with Taylor Made, or you can go to any retailer and they will order them. A few online places will custom order your clubs to your specs. Unless it is something really exotic, it shouldn't take more than a week or two to get the clubs.

If you are able to get fit for the clubs you want, through the manufacturer, that is a great option and IMO, well worth the wait until May. Getting properly fit is the hard part, getting the clubs that fit you is pretty easy.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

The demo days that I have gone to in my area did not have a launch monitor, but the individuals working would help you select shaft options and work with you off of a board to determine lie angle. At that point the would write your specs down for you and you could purchase the clubs at store that was hosting the demo days. If they didn't have the exact clubs that met you specs they would order them for you.

My club is an Authorized Ping fitting center. Fitting me for irons and hybrids took about 45 minutes, and was free (well, besides the price of the clubs). And Ping sends the clubs to your Pro Shop (or wherever they were ordered), within 10 days.

I cant tell you how happy I am with my g10 irons/hybrids. Well worth the time to get fitted.

Look around your area for fitting centres. A lot of golf clubs fit for different manufacturers. Our pro does both ping and callaway.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)
