How do you find new playing partners in a new city? I am moving and going to be living for the summer in a new city, I won't have college or work to meet anyone. What way have you found new playing partners before?

just set up some tee times as a single. I've had a few players show up and I just offer to play with their group or if they're a single they may want to play with my group. ask if they play that course a lot...I've met a couple players that way.

I'm sure there's local groups that gets together as well that you can find online depending on the city.

what city are you heading to? might find some people here.

Yeah I'm sure you can find someone on here from that city or just goto a course regularly and try to befriend some of the other players that you get groupped with.

Yeah thats what I figured, I would just hang around the club house hit some buckets at the driving range and set up singles and hope they place me with a group or something... I am moving to the dallas fort worth area... so if anyones from around there send me a message

If you can afford it, join a club. Ask the local pro to set you up with a group of members of similar handicaps. You can also sign up for leagues and show up as a single. Just ask the pro shop to pair you with players of similar ability. Another great way to meet golfers is to get a part time job at a golf course as a starter or something.

I walk on and play as a single quite a bit. My friends do not like to walk so if I want walk, I really have to go out by myself.

For the most part, I have never played with anyone who was rude. I actually enjoy it as much as playing with people I know. It was wierd at first but I have been doing that for years.

I am 16 and i just play with juniors my age that go to my school who are members. I have played with loads of different adults and older guys too though, by entering competitions and getting grouped up with them. If you can, enter a few competitions, you get to know a load of people, so you develop playing partners you enjoy playing with.
What I Play:
Wilson Mini Stand Bag | PING G10, 10.5°, Proforce V2 HL S | PING G5, 15°, 18°, Aldila NV 75 S | PING G5, 19°, Aldila VS Proto By You 80 S
Mizuno MX200 4-PW S | Ping Tour W 50/12 X | Ping Tour W 58/TS X | A selection of putters, all 35.5 inches.

Call some of the courses nearby and get the league information. Call the leagues officers and sign up!

Most leagues always welcome new members. Join 2 or 3 and you'll have a docket full of tee times and roster of like minded players.

Post an ad on your local golf course like this;

"I will play anyone with $100 per hole."

I bet you will receive lots calls with lots new playing partners. J/K

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
