I have been putting together my own beginner set since I really liked using tour edge clubs and could not find a full set under $300, is there anything else I need to start?

Here's what I bought
-Tour edge jmax iron set 3-4 are hybrids, 5-PW
-Tour edge geomax driver 10.5 deg
-Nike putter
-Callaway bag

Do i really need a 3 and 5 wood or sand wedge or am I ok with what I have?
Thank You

That 3 and 4 hybrid will keep you busy for now. Save your money for the time being and get some fairway woods later. Soon, but later. I would invest in a sand wedge asap. You will need that more than the fairway wood if you ask me. You could likely stroll in a golf shop and find a nice used sand wedge for $20-30. But at any rate, you will need a sand wedge. For short shots around the green, pitch shots, shots out to 50-90 yards, etc.. Not to mention the obvious, sand traps.

I would invest some money in some golf lessons if I were you. Grip, stance and ball position, basic swing fundamentals, etc.. This will pay big dividends later. Learn it the proper way and the game will be 100X easier in the long run. I speak from experience as I, like most, did it the wrong way. Get lessons!

I took my first lesson yesterday and basically spent an hour on proper swing/grip and wow how things work easier when done correctly. Also what type of sand wedge 52,54,56 deg?

Awesome to hear about the lessons man. Not something most folks are smart enough to do.

As for the sand wedge, 56 is the standard. You, like many, may want to add a gap (52) and a lob (60) at some point in the future. You may even want to buy a set intact now. I just got a killer set of brand new Cleveland 588's DSG Gunmetal (L-S-G) from a golf shop on Ebay. They were $209 for the set. A huge savings from the $109 retail they once had (each). I think Golfsmith or Edwin Watts still had some at the same price. I did not have my credit card with me (at work) so I got them from the guy on Ebay. Hit them just the other day. Awesome wedges man. Top shelf all the way.

Below is a link to what I bought.

    • Down the line and face on from today. Still feeling like I’m sticking the club into a hole in the ceiling above my right shoulder and then big loop inside to start downswing. That’s how it feels. Not how it looks though! Gotta keep working on this for a bit but I see a lot of progress. 😁
    • Day 5 (13 Mar 26) - Friday shootout cancelled- made it a practice round working from mixed tees. Plenty of up and down work around greens.  Best was a hole out birdie on the par 3 #5 hole - nice pitch and roll w/Pw from about 10yds off the green - dead center flagstick drop.  Much of round was focused on getting solid weight shift into lead foot.
    • Day 208 3-13 Worked on wrist arching and flow. First time hitting reall balls at a range in months. It was nice to see ball flight. Still not sure it beats my backyard practice station.
    • Three hole match - microphones on in the cart. It's fascinating listening to them talk about their shots and how they play them. I'm not normally a huge fan of the TM videos - they seem forced to me - but this one doesn't. It's also fun seeing their competitiveness over what on the face of it is a fairly meaningless 3 holes, but they can't help themselves.
