I've often heard that a good ball striker's irons will eventually show a small worn spot on the face of the club where he is repeatedly making contact with the ball. Does anyone have a picture that shows what this looks like?

The face of my club is scratched all over the place so I'm just curious.

Thanks

I get them on my wedges and short irons, mostly. I havent seen it happen with my AP2's yet but am starting to see those little bitty scratches that eventually end up as rust spots. Scratches on the face are not really that big of a problem as long as the grooves look good.

my wedges are actually the only ones that have a good amount of wear markings, other clubs are still kind of new. I've got plenty of markings on the sweet spot but what's cool is that they teardrop up in 3 different directions, but the strongest markings go from center to straight back, and center towards the toe from using an open face. I do use a draw type wedge shot for a different release sometimes but not as often and it doesn't show as much.

Same here. My wedges and short irons all have spots on them about the size of a quarter. Just because I'm practicing more with these irons on the range.
