Looking for a high spinning, soft feeling golf ball? You've met your match.

I've NEVER played a ball that spins so much. I lost a good 10 yards off the tee, and My iron/wedge shots were on a "yo-yo" like the pro's on T.V...

I landed a ball a foot away from the hole on a par 3 with a high, well stuck 9-iron...it ended up spinning back a good 15 feet, almost off the green!

Now, granted the courses around here are wet, but this ball spun more than any other ball I've played on the market. I think when it gets real dry in the summer this could be the ball to go to...but if it's normal conditions, or slightly wet, forget it.

Anyone have a similar experience with this ball?

No.. Never really seen that at all with the tour I I found them to be very similar to the pro v in all honesty.. And they don't generally suck of greens with 9 irons that I land a foot from the hole :P

I've played them before and didn't really notice much difference between it an a ProV. By the way, why would you wan't to spin the ball away from the hole?

Also I gained a good five yards with the I... And wouldn't you want a lower ball flight with no spin in dry a? And doesn't the ball really just stick anyway in wet conditions?

I believe the OP is referring to the spin with this ball as excessive for their particular game - thus causing the undesired/excessive spin away from the hole. They are saying this actually spins too much for them...

I have had a completely different experience with this ball. It has added significant distance off the tee and has not negatively affected me with spin on the greens. Of course contact changes the rate of spin, but for me, I have not hit a better ball for my game, if you could say I have a "game". I've played the Callaway almost exclusively for over 5 years now and not sure I've seen a big difference with the Tour i over the HX Tour.

I am also intrigued by each year's "new" ball form different manufacturers so I'm familiar with many different balls' performance. I see a lot of comparisons to the Pro V but I've found the Callaway to have superior feel, especially around and on the greens. I could easily just have a mental block against other balls.

I love that d@mn ball.

A full swing 9 iron will have the MOST spin out of any club in the bag.

Interesting piece of trivia, I did not know that and obviously don't strike my 9 like a 3 handicapper to ever experience that spin.

A full swing with a lob wedge actually has the most. More loft and usually bigger grooves are the perfect formula for higher spin compared with the 9-iron, which averages 16* less in terms of loft.

As for the tour-i, I've fallen in love with that soft feel. It reminds me of the HX-tour 56, my favorite of any past callaway offering. I didn't really experience a loss of distance with it, though my launch angle averages a degree or two higher, compared to the ix tour. Both are really solid balls. I prefer either to the Pro V1 series.

No...you would want the ball to go high into greens during dry conditions.

Off the tee you want to hit it lower to get roll obviously, but your shots into the green wouldn't roll off if your playing with a high spin golf balls and play it high.
By the way, why would you wan't to spin the ball away from the hole?

Thats the thing, I don't. It was spinning too much for me.

Been playing the I since it came out and love it.It does spin a lot but that is what I need at my age.I have also gained a few yards off the tee with it so I am a happy camper.
