Just wondering what the swing speeds are for those of you using this shaft in your irons.

well, i just had a custom club fitting for my new callaway x-forged 2009 irons and the pro who did my fitting put in the 5.5 shafts.

originally, i thought that he would put in 6.0 shafts because i have a fast swing speed (around 110 with driver) but he said that 5.5 was the right shaft for me. He said that 5.5 rifle is a stiff shaft, and that most who put the 6.0's in shouldnt have them.

I dont know what my iron club speed is but i do know that i have a fast swingspeed.

Where did you go to get fitted? What kind of equipment did they use in the fitting?

There isnt much difference between the 5.5's and the 6.0. Hardly noticeable by the ametuer player.

by the pro at westchester country club. I dont know what the machines are called but he used a couple, plus he knows from experience, he has fit over 1000 people with clubs in his career history.

I think there is a huge difference, they were a lot stiffer (to me) and ball flight didn't seem as true, I hit them much lower than the 5.5. even when I tried to hit them high.

I think I could work the 6.0's better than the 5.5, but that could have been in my head...

For what it's worth I was fitted with PX 5.0. My swing speed is ~80-85mph with Irons and ~95-100mph with the driver.

Based on my swing speed and shafts in my old irons (ping 13 blade with JZ stiff), the fitter said I could go with 5.5. However, since I have a smooth tempo, he recommended going with the 5.0.

Having said all that, I'm still not as comfortable with the PX 5.0 shafts as I was with my Ping JZ shafts. Not only is my ball flight higher, I've sacrificed distance and feel.

Currently toying with the idea of a re-shaft.
