The grip on my 2007 Taylormade Burner driver ripped and I need to get it regripped.

I was wondering what grips are good for drivers. Is there a difference between iron and driver grips?

Also, whats the difference between Midsize and thick or thin grips?

Any information is awesome!

Thanks!

(1) Grip preferences are just that: preferences. Some people like cord, some people don't. Some people like wraps, some people don't. Some people like black, some people don't. It's up to you to go to the golf store and figure out what you want.

(2) There is no difference between the grips on irons and drivers. You may prefer to have different grips, but there isn't a "special" driver grip or a "special" iron grip.

(3) The difference between grip sizes is the thickness of the grip. In other words, a midsize grip will be thicker in your hands than a standard grip, and is aimed at golfers with larger hands.

Hopefully that helps.

One more question:

Supposedly I have small hands, but I get a thick grip. Would it affect my drives at all? Or is it just a feel that you get which would be different?

Thanks for the help!

From what I've read, thicker grips generally help if you find you are pulling or hooking the ball. (But I just got new irons with mid-sized grips and I've been pulling them, so go figure.)

Did you like the factory grip? If so, you can replace it with just about any standard size rubber grip. The difference between thick and thin is just that, some are thicker than others. TM factory grips fall more on the thin side. Now for the burning question: How does one rip a grip?

Well, Im not completely sure how it happened, but what I think happened was that I was trying to take my club out of my bag but it got caught on something and then ripped.

Not too sure. Would you guys recommend any grips for me? Id want something mid-size.

I'm a big fan of Golf Pride New Decade grips, I like cord and with the heat and humidity in this part of the country it is almost a must.

Heat index is 110 today!!!

I got the Tour Velvet Golf Pride Jumbos on my driver and I love it. It's all about personal preference, you should go to a pro shop and try out some grips and put on the best feeling one. Because in the end you are hitting the driver, not someone on this forum.

Thanks guys, I'm going to the Pro Shop tomorrow and will try out the grips there.

Right now I am leaning towards the Golf Pride New Decades Multicompound grip.

Thanks for all your guys' help!

OK So I've got a confession here.
After reading an article about checking grip size, and where my fingers should reach to, around the club, it turned out (with my stubby little fingers), that I needed Ladies Grips!
Yep, so I use Ladies Golf Pride. Have done for the last 4 Years.

But let me make one thing clear here....I PLAY LIKE A MAN!......(honestly).

    • Long time creeper, but had to join today to ask a question. Today was playing in our clubs Sunday money group. We played all 18 holes and was settling up after the last hole. The groups about 9 guys. Most I play with every week. A few I play with once a month or every other month.  I shot well and was owe a small 3 digit amount from a few players. That's when the guy I don't play with often walks up and says he isn't paying because I had too many clubs in my bag. We walked to my bag and I counted my clubs and I didn't have too many. He then states look at the back your bag there is another club. Low and behold my 7 years daughters putter is in the umbrella hole as its been for the last year when she stated coming with me and wants to putt on the greens. All the other guys looked at him but he refuses to pay me out but pays everyone else. Whats your thoughts. All the other guys paid me out.
