Could I please have some feedback / input on a problem that I am having? I have a Callaway Tour diablo 9.5* "rare" with the voodoo shaft r flex and, also the PING Rapture driver 10.5* R flex with the Mitsubishi BB. I am at the upper end of swing speed for r flex and, I do not kow if my problem is caused by the shaft in the ping or, the fact that I just am doing something wrong? Here is the problem:

is the r flex the issue or my hands?

I went to tee off this weekend and, I kept hitting hooks to the left approx 90% of the time. They really did not go more than 200 yards and they where way way left. Could it be the length of the shaft in the ping? I ask because, I was hitting the Diablo tour just fine. Also, I had a burner 2009 driver that I hit perfectly well and, it had a long shaft. What are the causes and, what can I do to correct the visious snap hooks to the left?

Please advise. Thanks!

I do not think that the shaft would cause a snap hook 90% of the time. More then likely quick at the top or another swing flaw. just my .02

I am not sure what I am doing. as I said the ping was hooking to the left and, yes it is a tad longer of a shaft however, I used to smash my burner 2009 with a longer shaft than the ping so, I am baffled!?

I'm gonna take a wild guess at the other end of the spectrum ... given the differences in heads, shafts, lengths, I'm gonna guess that the swingweight (feel) of the clubs were quite (dramatically) different. Thus, the probable lighter 'feel' club you pulled around your body more than the higher finish/release of a club with a swingweight more suited to your swing.

Just my hunch ... for what it's worth.
I make all my own clubs:

I have been plagued with a snap hook many times. I have found that using a weaker grip(rolling my hands to the left) and slowing my swing down help out. If it still doesn't work I will play the ball back in my stance a little bit. Right or wrong things to do i don't know, just a few things that have worked for me in the past.

I agree...started snapping drives last week. Went to see my pro and he had me adjust my right hand, it was way too strong. I am back to hitting it down the middle.

I didn't even realize that my grip was getting so sloppy and strong. It's usually not the club.

The only reason I ask is because I could potentially see where if he was addressing the ball the same exact distance away as with the shorter driver, that could bring his swing plane a little too much to the inside and produce that type of ball flight. Slim chance, but I figured it was worth asking.

your driver might cause you to go 5-10 yards offline, not snap hook.

I really appreciate your thoughts guys, please keep em coming! I am one confused person! My buddy wants to trade me his titleist 909 d comp for my V2 because they are both in new condition however, I do not know which is really the better driver?. After reading all of the reviews I actually think that the PING might be slightly ahead. So, I guess I should stay with what I have and, try to fix it! ?????

So, the fact that I am using an R flex as I always have is not the cause right?

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
