I can get either the regular Burner Driver or the Black TP Driver for $150 at Dick's. I am a beginner with a high handicap, but can hit the driver somewhat straight, just not very far (205-215). Swing speed is 85. What would be ideal for me? What's the difference between the 2? Also should I go with the 10.5 Loft or High Trajectory (What's the loft on the HJ?). Any suggestions of flex?

First time buying a driver so thanks a lot for the input.

I would recommend that non-TP Burner driver, if you are a high-handicapper you will benefit from the slightly closed clubface as well as a lighter (and assuming higher-launching shaft).

As for loft and flex I'm not really sure, if you're hitting drivers 205-215 a regular flex would probably suit you. As for loft, probably the higher the better......the higher loft the better as it helps keep sidespin off the ball. Though you don't want to be skying the ball either....

Hope this helps

I assume by the Black Burner, you mean the Tour Burner. That comes in both regular and TP versions.

The TP version has a 2* open face, so if you slice, you will slice even more. Plus the heaver and stiffer tipped shaft will make it harder for you to generate distance. Given your handicap and and driver distance I think you should get the regular Tour Burner with a regular flex shaft with 10.5* loft. But, of course, the best thing would be for you to get fitted by a professional.

Regular shaft Tour Burner with 10.5 or more loft and see if you can get it an inch shorter. Will help you control the ball better.

Thanks all. Just to clear up the confusion, they have the 2008 Tour Burner (not TP), and the 2008 Regular Burner Driver, at the same price of $150 New. From what I am reading, the club face on the Tour Burner is a little smaller and the shaft better but a little stiffer. I'm 6'2 so I think the long shafts these drivers come stock with will suit me well. Also, I found out the High Trajectory is 13 degrees loft. So my options are:

2008 Tour Burner 10.5 Driver
2008 Burner 10.5 Driver
2008 Burner High Trajectory Driver (13 degree loft).

Would like a few more opinions. Am leaning with the Tour Burner but is that too advanced for me? Anyone who has these/hit these clubs have any input?

Thanks a bunch.

Bro that tour burner is really for advanced players. I wouldnt get it starting out. Id get the regular burner but the only question should be loft. Id stick with the regular shaft flex until you get a little better. Honestly I might take the 9.5. Thats what I use but I hit the ball high. I think either way as long as you get a regular flex non Tour burner you'll be happy.
