here are a few videos of my swing.. it needs some critiquing, my problem is hooking the ball off the tee.. it tends to creep in at the end of rounds and an certain "bad days" some of them are so severe that the ball goes probably less than 100 yds..

so here they are:

this one was one of my better drives all day, straight as an arrow, around 270-280 yds, middle of fairway:

this one was a slight hook:

as was this one:

I couldnt seem to get a video of one of my bad hooks, but from what i can see in the video, i can tell my clubface is wayyyy closed, or maybe open, at the top of the backswing. I'm sure that has something to do with it. I seem to be swinging inside to out when I watch them in slow-mo, so im thinking the biggest problem is clubface alignment. My good shots are straight or slight draw and probably average 260-280. My bad hooks go maybe 150, it really sucks. However, my handicap is dropping pretty nicely, ive been shooting 6-8 over my past few rounds of 9 holes, but i feel that if i can fix this hooking problem I can drop it even lower, so any advice is appreciated

at the top of your swing, your left wrist is bowed. This closes the clubface which makes it point to the sky at the top. Then as you come down the bowed left wrist causes your drives to hook. My suggestion would be to cup your left wrist more, so that at the top your club face is parallel to your left arm.

yea, since i started trying to initiate the backswing with my shoulders, ive started taking it back on a flatter plane. I think standing closer to the ball will help me use a steeper takeaway, and i definitely need to work on the wrist part, no idea how my face got to be so closed at the top of the swing.

anything else you guys can see? Ive just started really focusing on starting the downswing with my lower body, not sure if im doing it correctly yet.. please tell me if im not

A flatter plane doesn't mean you have to let the clubhead get three feet behind your hands at horizontal on the takeaway.

true, the only reason i can think that I've started doing this is that ive tried to not cock my wrists as early in the swing and have somehow started this bad habbit of rolling them.. I have some work to do at the range on my takeaway and entire backswing for that matter today

just for clarification.. cupping the left wrist at the top would mean bending it slightly back correct? because right now my right wrist is bent back, my left wrist bent forward or towards the right one.. sorry if im not being clear i can see how this could get confusing

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
