is there a tool or monitor of some sort that can tell you roughly how far you hit a ball? i think someone told me launch monitors do this but i wasnt sure. i have a general idea of my yardages but if there is something that can help me get a more precise idea i would definitely like to ge one.

Depends on how much you want to spend :) Beltronics do a hand held swing speed analyser which is reasonably accurate in terms of swing speed (not sure about distance though) for a few hundred dollars. At the other end is the 'AccuSport Vector Launch System' (sounds like a rocket of some sort, huh) which is a few thousand dollars and you may find at the local golf retailer. Otherwise, there are the traditional monocular scopes (about twenty bucks but useless if you aren't targeting a flagstick) and the laser distance finders (for example, Bushnell Pinseeker which is a few hundred dollars) which seem to be all the rage these days....

yeah... golfmsith.com sells the accusport vector system, it will run you around 3 thousand dollars... not bad huh
