I headed over to Golfsmith this morning to check out some new clubs. At first i had my mind set on the R7 460 and hit it but wasn't really that impressed. Then I hit the Mizuno Mx-500 and was hooked. I dont know why, Ive never owned a Mizuno club before, and I'm kind of partial to TM woods but the Mizuno just felt really solid (and 100$ cheaper). I also picked up some new Titleist wedges. Cant wait to go out to the course and try em' out. One question... I'm new to the Oil Can finish, should I be aware of any maintenance things?

The oil can finish is made to wear off the clubs. After that they will start to rust a little bit. If you hit enough balls the face should stay fairly clean. If you dont care for the rust look, a little steel wool should clean it up.

good call on the oil can wedges, I play three of them now... they have a nice feel and are very responsive but the rust does not produce any more spin... I just think they look great with the rust, like he said hit enough balls they keep clean...

if you want more rust (like I did) take a bucket full of warm water and place a decent amount of salt in the water, take the wedge and wrap a cloth around the head and leave the wedge over night... it will get some nice rust...

if to much rust is produced either steel wool it up or leave it soaked in Coke (Coca Cola , not yayo) ... the coke will eat away at all the rust (its kind of scary... we actually drink something that can eat at metal over time)
