I ran across a pretty good deal on ebay last week for a slightly used 909 D3. It has a "real" Diamana blue board 63gram stiff shaft in it and also came with the "made for Titleist" Aldila Voodoo shaft as well. I got to hit it for the first time today. I really, really like this driver. It's a canon. I don't know if it's the shaft or the head, i'm guessing both and I really like the feel and the sound or lack of sound from the face. If you're driver shopping, don't overlook the 909 series. I'll be getting rid of my 09 Burner soon. I'm sure the D2 and the Dcomp are good as well.

how much did you pay for it?
also, how did the ballflight change from the burner to the 909 D3?
Hopefully I will buy a 909D2 this coming spring when the season starts again.
sounds like a great deal to me + 2 shafts

I agree. I have this driver and love it. First driver I've had where the face doesn't seem like it's two or three degrees closed when I set it down at address. I put an AxivCore Tour Red in mine and it seems to be the right fit for my swing. Launches high but penetrating.

Love My 909d2 with 9.5* Prolaunch red. I had the diamana blue in it when i bought it like 10 months ago but my swing has gotten quicker so I threw a prolaunch red in it. I love the feeling of the head and the sound, really does give you confidence to hit the ball

Very good driver (not as good as the 905R imo) Excellent feel and aesthetics, too. The stock shaft options blow, unfortunatley.

I've had mine since February and loved it. Switched from a V2 to the Oban and it's given better launch conditions.

how much did you pay for it?

I got it for 202.00 217.00 shipped. I had a Prolaunch Platinum stiff in the burner and it was kinda like it launched mid and flattened out. It wasn't bad, I just didn't care much for the sound of the club and the feel. The ball flight on the D3 with the Blueboard launches low to mid and just GOES. Not a huge difference in the trajectory but a huge one in feel and sound. Also, not club related at all but the magnetic headcover is pretty cool too. It beats the hell out of trying to stuff a big driver head into a skinny sock like the Burner.

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
