Hi guys,

I want to order a pair of Footjoy Icons, but I won't get a chance to try them on first. (The Icons won't be released here until next year; and, even if they were available here, I'd still have to order them from the US because Footjoy only releases W widths here, and I need an M.)

Anyway, here's my question. I currently have a pair of FJ Dryjoys (7.5 M ... small, I know!). I'd like to know, in a practical way, how the size varies (if, indeed, it varies at all) between the two models. (For example, are the Dryjoys slightly longer or shorter?) If anyone here has tried both models, can you please let me know your thoughts?

Many thanks.
Current setup:
Titleist 909D2 9.5°, Diamana Blue Stiff | Titleist 909F2 15.5°, Diamana Blue Stiff | Mizuno MP-57 3-P, Nippon NS Pro 1050GH Stiff | Titleist Vokey SM 54.11, 60.07 | Scotty Cameron ACVII / Napa California | Titleist Pro V1X

i would expect the size and width to be the same between shoes of the same model. When visiting the footjoy website the shoe size chart is the same for every shoe so I would expect them to be the same.

From my shoe experiences it will be a total crap shoot if they fit - I can't rely on consistency even within a manufacturer's line to gauge whether or not they'll fit well. Last time I bought shoes I was planning on getting a nice set of FJ Classics, but they just didn't feel good, particularly where the shoe would "break" when walking (the flex point across the top of the foot). The DryJoys in the exact same size had a different break point, but still weren't comfortable. But the Countour fit my foot just right, with no break-in needed. Each manufacturer may use the same foot last for their lineup, but the different pieces of the shoe and how they fit together may make it feel completely different from one model to the next.

I have owned 4 different FJ shoes in the last few years. 3 of them were different styles including one that is a Dryjoy. The size and fit has been the same on all of them for me. I have not tried on the Icon series at all though.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

    • Welcome back! Evolvr.com? I don't use the full extreme end of it, and that's probably dipped to 75% or so nowadays. But I use the sole more than I don't, yeah. Also… it's good to learn this shot: Middle up. Not generally outside your feet in either direction. I generally have it slightly forward of center, yeah. Short version: tip your upper body in the direction of the slope. Look at the GC3. You can find them for really good prices sometimes.
    • 3 rainouts in a row….that’s SAD Sorry, I’m in MI or I would take you up on a round.
