World Cup 2010 draw

FIFA announced the groupings for next summer's World Cup earlier today. My first impression is that the United States got a pretty good draw. Algeria and Slovenia are probably the weakest African and European teams in the field, respectively, the U.S. will get its seeded opponent out of the way early, and they have a geographically-compact draw, staying in the Johannesburg-Pretoria high country for all its matches.

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, Greece
Group C: England, United States, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Ivory Coast, Portugal, North Korea
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile

USA got basically the best possible draw not in South Africa's group.

Germany or Ghana in round two will be a tall order tho.

Looks like karma has finally hit North Korea. I think they'll go 0-2-1 at best. Maybe 0-3
