Hi All,
Anybody in So. Cal LA District or San Diego District belong to the Golf Channel amateur tour. I' been thinking about joining but would like to hear from you guys as to what to expect. Is it a good time? Are there a bunch of Butt Heads? Just looking for some feed back before I do it.

Thanks Guys and girls

I've been tempted to join myself, my wife keeps telling me to go for it but I think it involves a lot of traveling from what I can see from the tournament schedule for my state.

I think my wife is trying to get rid of me lol.

Yeah, I agree. Seems to a bit of traveling....Might turn it into a vacation when my wife decides to retire in future years. Meanwhile, I'll practice and lower my 28...but it does sound exciting and fun.

I've checked into the series on the golf channel web site and the comments posted by golfers who have played in it. The card is purchased for $200.00, entry fees are as high as $750.00. Most of the postings I read were about guys winning their group by super wide margins (I think there are 6 handicap brackets) and about lax officials who rush the show. To see this, it looks like you spend a lot of money to play with sandbaggers (or crybabies) depending how you perceive the posts to golf channel officials who take your money, herd you thru like cattle and don't want to know about anything.

Ive heard that the traveling is a bit and should be expected if you want to experience 'it.' But one of the things that isnt known about the experience is that the individual tournaments can be very expensive.
