I'm beginning to go to the indoor range at least twice a week so I can prepare for the spring season, seeing that I play for my high school team (senior). I'm a bit sore in my left side, but luckily Ive been lifting a bit since the season ended so it wont be too bad.

I want to go over basic concepts just to make sure my swing will be consistent as possible. Im not talking beginner basics such as "head down" and other starting concepts but more like "spine angle" etc....

A few things that Ive been concentrating on would be making enough rotation with my upper body, and keeping my right leg back in my finish instead of dragging it forward through the swing.

What tips would you give or have used to practice pre-season?

"Yep. Inside each and every one of us is one true authentic swing. Somethin' we was born with. Somethin' that's ours and ours alone. Somethin' that can't be taught to ya or learned. Somethin' that got to be remembered."

Definitely refresh on the basics. Check your alignment, posture and grip. It's a good time to get back into good habits with those things.

Although these are basics, they are also crucial. I wqould say 90% of bad swings start with a problem at setup. Make sure your setup is consistent, use a couple of clubs to ensure proper alignment. If you have a video camera, bring it to the range. You don't want to just start swinging away. Check the video and see where your swing is at so you can catch any bad habits right away. You don't want to ingrain a bad habit just because you didn't notice it. I think the winter is a great time to make swing changes and improvements.

I thought that's why we had the winter? To encourage us to come off the course for a little and work on the swing basics and improve!

Out of curiosity, where are you practicing indoors? We have Oasis golf center over here in Plymouth. I'd like to find one that has an indoor putting and chipping facility.

I'm not working indoors (not really aware of anywhere near me in Wiltshire UK that does this)... so am just working on my swing basics at the range for the moment!
