TM Red Fans

I was in Walmart today picking up some tees and saw the Reds on clearance for $21 dz. I fel in love with the Reds last years when they were $27.50 and have been sitting on 3 dz since the end of summer. Knowing they are going to be discontinued, I planned on picking up a few dz more since Walmart had them for $29. For this price I don't think I can pass up stocking way up. I know others like this ball so you may want to check out the Walmarts in your area, unless you live by me.

Yep, picked up 2 dozen today. Great deal, but I wish they weren't discontinuing this ball, it's a great match for me, as I spin the ball alot with my irons and wedges, and pro V1 and 1x just back up way too much. Have the same problem with the TP Blacks. I like the penta OK, but too much $$. I've got a nice little stash of about 6 dozen TP reds, and I might have to get a couple more before they're gone.
I've been giving the new Wilson Staff FG tour a run and it's a pretty good ball as well. Can't find them out here on the peninsula though, and they retail at $37 a dz.

I also wish they weren't getting rid of this ball. I can probably stock up and have them last for a while since I will start using them when things start to firm up in the late spring and summer. At $21, I will pick up a few more dozin than I would have at $30. I will not have to worry about what ball to use next for a couple of seasons at least.

How's the new Wilson Staff FG Tour ball in terms of feel and performance (greenside spin, distance) compared to the TP Red LDP? I've seen them in a local golf shop, but was hesistant on giving them a test run. I'm a fan of the Red ... they have a certain softness to them. Great off the putter. My other ball is Wilson Staff Zip, which is even softer.

The FG tour plays more like a ProV1, But with a little less spin. Great feel around the greens and putting. Fairly durable.
Not quite as long as the TP Red. It feels "lighter" off the driver face. First couple of times I played it I hit it side by side w/ the TM and on impact I thought to myself "this isn't going far" but found it only 2-3 yards shorter, if that.
Haven't had a chance to play it in a stong wind yet, and to me this is an area the TM Red really shines. Best wind ball I ever played.
I suggest you buy a sleeve and give them a go. They'll be a little cheaper than the Penta, that's for sure.
