I have room in my bag for two more clubs. You can see the clubs I carry in my sig. What would you add? I'm thinking at least one wedge to fill the gap between my PW & SW. Dick's has the Taylormade RAC wedges on sale right now 2 for $100. Good deal? Anything else I should consider?

My current short game set includes:
X18R 9i - 41*
X18R PW - 46*
X18R SW - 56*
Cleveland REG 588 - 60*

Should I replace the worn out 60*?

I got the 60 used about 10 years ago for free. I don't guess I really KNOW if it's worn out or not, more curious if wedge technology has improved as dramatically as the rest of the game in that time frame.

Wedges nowadays can get more spin (well not the brand new ones)

I think they also wear out faster too though, since they get more spin I think they have thinner edges on them too so they wear faster.

Irons are pretty much the same. The improvements are in shafts, balls, and hybrids/woods

They're gotten longer, I'll give you that.

I'd certainly add a 52 degree wedge if it's leaving a gap in your short game shots. Depending upon the bounce of your SW, you may want a low-bounce gap wedge for tight approach shots and chips.

What is your distance with the 4i, 17 degree fairway and the driver?

You may consider a 21-23 degree hybrid.

agree with delav,

gap wedge (50-52* range), and probably a 3-hybrid--i'd bet you may have a decent distance gap between 4W and 4i. If you hate hybrids and like FW's better, you could get a 7W instead...

why does he need a gap wedge?

Unless he's a long hitter he probably won't need one.

If his SW was a 54 and his PW was a 48, he probably wouldn't, but they aren't, so he might.

I've got a 45* PW and a 54* SW.

I don't notice that much of a gap. But I'm a short-ish hitter

If that was my bag I would probably go with the 50 degree gapper and a 17-20 degree hybrid. There is nothing wrong with the 588...my .02.

Based on the majority of answers I think I'll pick up a gap wedge. I am happy with my selection of longer clubs at the moment. I have only owned one hybrid, an Adams hybrid 3, and I could not hit that club to save my life. I just bought the Cleveland Launcher a few days ago, so I am still try to figure that club out. When I hit it nice, boy does it sound great and fly nice.

Thanks for all of your input!
