It may have been by the sweat of my ass.....but i broke 90!!

I've broken both my year 1 goals in the first four months I've started golfing. I guess my new goal in 85.

I didn't add it up till after I was done, if I had known how close I was I probably would have choked...

Good job, I notice you have a couple of trpple's in there, if you can work on what caused the big numbers you should be able to break 85 easy.

Thanks!!

11 was a lost ball. I was playing through some guys and of course laid a big turd off the tee box while everyone was looking at me. 18 was water, I laid up but hit the most pure shot of my life and it rolled down the bank.

The scores don't look it, but I actually thought I played a little better the back nine. The front I couldn't hit my irons for anything. It was really my short game that was allowing me to keep it close to the pin for bogey's....

It's in Puryear TN, about fifteen minutes south of Murray Kentucky. On Thursday it's $20 including cart, this is the first Thursday it hasn't been storming on about two months...

yeah, there is not much difference, only about 150 yards total per side so I just went on back. It dropped my handicap almost a whole point

Yeah I didnt notice. Some course the difference is outrageous.

It was just the Par 3's here. And it was only the difference of a club or two....

If I could have gotten my irons going sooner I think I could have had more pars on the front nine...

Oh well, I'm excited for next time...

Nice work nuck.
Once you break one goal you'll race to the next one.

I think counting your score isn't a good idea, if you don't keep it in your head you won't focus on your score.
But that depends if you use a scorecard, me and my friends don't bother unless we're in a competitions.

All you need to do is become consistent, if you don't lose any balls low 80 scores are easy.

Thanks man, I was keeping it hole by hole, but didn't add it up till the end. The 7 on 18 scared me. I knew I was close but thought I'd be ok. I laid up and the SOB rolled into the water anyway, but it all worked out. I'm giving myself a month for an 85 and my new year 1 goal is 79!!

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
    • Day 2, 12/31/25.  Similar to yesterday (rainy, no surprise), I hit primarily 6-iron full swings with the same focus;  I also hit some chips (about 1/8 swing) with the 54.  About two dozen full swings and an equal number of short shots.  All of this was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls.
