Unless you are an absolute beginner, out of those 2, R7 definitely. Big Berthas are good irons--very forgiving, and great when just starting out. But when I played with the 06 BB, they just were too big and shovely for my personal taste, and I longed for something a bit more dynamic. I've played the R7s and they are great--forgiving, not too big, and feel nice. Otherwise, there are plenty of options, but I am partial to Wilson Staff irons which I now own in the Di9 irons (super game improvement) and Ci7s (game improvement). But try to stay away from the BB if you can.

Not sure why the BB hate in here, I like them... Sal, it depends on what you want out of your iron set. Do you want a set with offset, forgiveness, workability, or feel? What are your priorities?

I think the aesthetics of some callaway irons has been a stumbling block for many, despite their very good performance. I personally don't like thick clubs with soft lines.
