Looks like 2nd swing is out of business and having liquidation sales. May want to see if they have any good deals.

i checked mine, and honestly the liquidation sale was still bad prices for anything thats mainstream. Almost seems like i could get somethin new from a warehouse site cheaper than a used one from 2nd swing.

I'm terrible, but i have fun.

You know the business was a lost cause when none of the other chains were interested in aquiring some of their assests, including land buildings . The golf liqidators on E-Bay are probably paying very close attention.

Its too bad to see them go out of business. We have three in the Twin Cities (plus their HQ) and the stores NEVER were busy when I went (about every other week). They took on way too much inventory and their pricing was too high. My wife will be happy they are no longer around.

I was a regular customer in the Harrisburg store (they knew me by first name). Their trade-in prices were ALWAYS great - about 25% more than other pro shops / golf stores, etc. Always wondered how they could offer so much. Now I know why they're going out of business.

I stopped by Sunday to speak with the sales person. Yes, the prices are still kind of high - the discount is only 20%. I was told that this initial discount will last 4-6 weeks, and then the next markdown is 30-50% off. If there's not anything you need immediately, it might make sense to wait for the 2nd markdown.

Well, I visited two in the Twin Cities today and came away less then impressed for a company on "liquidation". 30-50% off (30% on clubs) and it was really hit and miss depending on what you wanted. Used clubs were marked up to retail in some cases and then discounted 30%. For example, a Scott Cameron Circa '62 #3 that looked like it was fished out of a pond based on the rust (perfect for a SC restoration job) was priced at $249. Overheard employees talking of 40-50% off coming up. Still had quite a bit of inventory remaining. Only thing really tempting was a Mitchell lie/loft machine (already sold )

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
