I am planning on buying a Cleveland CG11 wedge that is 52 degrees, that has 10 degrees of bounce, but i want to bend it down to 51. Or should i buy the 50 degree wedge with 8 degrees of bounce?

Thank you in advance for answering

I was asking one of my friends how much his golf shop charged to bend the wedges and when he found out it was my CG10 I wanted bent he suggested that I either contact Cleveland and have them do it or get it done at one of their tour vans.

His reasoning was that the techs at his shop don't do it because of the materials used that they break easier when being bent.....I don't know the validity of this claim but I sent an email to my local Cleveland rep just to be safe. I'll let you know the reponse I get.

In regards to your original question I don't believe it makes a difference to whether you bend up or down.

lilxkrnxkangsta, In terms of the effective bounce and loft after bending, either option will yield the same, a wedge with 51 degrees of loft and 9 degrees of bounce. What will make a difference is the offset. Bending a wedge weak will decrease the apperance of offset while bending it strong tends to add offset. Although with a change of one degree this will likely be a non issue. One more thing to consider is the Cleveland CMM material which can be a bit brittle and quite easy to snap under the bending bar. A one degree change should be easy to accomplish by a compotent clubmaker, but understand that there is a risk associated.

I just spoke with a Cleveland Rep today he said Cleveland will do the modifications for free, I just need to pay shipping to them and they'll handle the rest. He said the only catch is it needs to be sent in by a Cleveland Authorized Seller, so most any golf shop. With you only bending it 1° you might be able to find a clubmaker that will handle it.

Thank you guys so much for helping me on this issue. If I can find an authorized clubmaker I will definately have him bend the wedge for me. Otherwise I'll probably send it to Cleveland.

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
