Today I was messing around with the launch monitor at GolfSmith and this is what I got with my driver....

So what I discovered is my swing speed is between 110-120. I was told I could really benefit from an extra stiff shaft. Currently I am hitting a Ping G15 with its standard stiff shaft and 10.5 degrees loft. One of my biggest issues is my backspin. It was anywhere between 3500-5500. My launch angle was also really low at 7-10 degrees. This monitor didn't show angle of attack but I know its steep from lessons I have had.

I know there are swing issues that need to be addressed here. But this is what I'm working with currently so what kind of shaft would make sense for me. Should I go to Extra Stiff and what kind of shaft would help address some of the issues shown above.

Thanks in advance

Let me premise this by saying these comments are based solely on my limited experience on a launch moniter. Take them for what they're worth.

I don't think switching to an X-Stiff shaft is going to address launch angles of 7.9 and 10.2. I demo'd the same exact driver and with nearly identical club head speeds was launching between 14-15* every time. The pro said this angle was ideal and switching to an X-Stiff shaft could result in a lower than ideal trajectory (for me). Granted everyone's swing is different, your results still seem a bit erratic. Your smash factor was also a bit low on these giving me the impression you may not have been making great contact.

Were the other shots on the shot history yours as well? If so I'd guess you could possibly be overswinging.

A stiffer shaft, as long as it's not TOO stiff, will improve dispersion. Since I switched to x-stiff, my misses are tighter. Looking at your numbers, maybe try a "low spin" shaft model with a low kickpoint (which will help with the launch angle). I definitely would try a couple different models before making a purchase. A shaft that fits your swing will make a huge difference! I play a Matrix HD6 which is a mid-launch, low spin shaft, and I would recommend Matrix shafts for your trial. Great feel.

Good luck!

It's also worth mentioning that a 10.5° driver definitely isn't helping reduce backspin at all. It may be beneficial for you to switch to a 9.5° or even an 8.5°.
