I played on Saturday afternoon 18. Weather was PERFECT. I am playing tomorrow again, taking off work. Anyway, thought I would talk about and revisit my play. Well here are the stats, score was an 86, 3 fairways, 4 greens.

My driver was actually very good despite only hitting 3 fairways. I hit many good drives that were very well positioned and long. Not sure what happened, but I just gained 20 to 30 yards consistantly. I moved a little farther from the ball and trying to keep my swing short and powerful and I am just killing it (for me). It makes it fun. And the greens stats aren't as bad as they appear. Many shots were just on the collar and close to the hole.

My putter killed me. I missed 12 putts inside of 5 feet. Short game is the best its ever been I just couldn't make anything. My lag putting killed me too. I 3 putted 4 times. I played somewhere I only play once or twice a year. It was odd. I am never a good mid range putter but I am typically a very good short putter. O-well, one of those days. Over read the break many times and missed high. I will work on it with the phil 3 foot drill and do better.

I feel good golf coming. I am going to start scoring with a little more work. I am just not a range rat though so it is hard to want to go. I need to but I like playing so much more.

Brian

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
