Shot an 82 yesterday at a different, slightly tougher course then my home course. My low round is an 81, so I was pretty happy with the round. Didn't keep stats because another guy was keeping score, but have a fair recall of the round.

This course is much more open then my home course so I hit a lot of fairways, but still fading the ball. Much better then the last few weeks, but still not getting through the ball. Not slicing, ball starts out straight then tails off. I think I still need to work on keeping my right elbow connected. I only hit two drives on the sweet spot all day as well, need to keep working on the driver. Hit a few 260+, it was nice to be back to short irons.

Mid irons were solid, not great. Got more rotation on the backswing and yardages were up, so that was encouraging. Pulled a few short irons well left though, so I need to figure out how to swing more down the line at the range.

Had a lot of half wedges into greens with mixed results, hit some solid, but skulled a few. This continues to be an issue, I'll have to keep working this at the range and come up with a consistent technique. Part of it is just confidence in the shot, I know at least one I tried to "help" the ball along.

Short game was either great, or sucked. When I kept my head down and focused on the ball, I got up and down with kick-ins...but I had a few bladed chips simply from peeking. It irritates the hell out of me when I do this as it's so simple. Putting from long distance was terrible, beyond terrible. Greens were quick and I never adjusted, just kept pounding them past the hole. I made a BUNCH of 5-6ft second putts, or it would have been a 5or6 three putt day (had two). Missed a couple short putts for birdie that were simply a case of me locking up and not trusting the stroke, need to practice putting for sure this week.

Oh well, could have easily been my first round in the 70s if I didn't screw up some easy shots, but my game is definitely getting more solid and eliminating more mistakes. More practice this week...

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
