It was hot as all hell today at the course. Only 87 degrees or so but the humidity was insane. Played at my local course. I had it working off the tee all day. 10/14 fairways hit and I hit all 4 par 3 greens off the tee. 3 of the fairways I missed were fine, 2 of them on par 5's where I had no problems at all with my second shot, another was hitting 7i off the tee that found the first cut and the last was a legit poor drive on the first shot of the day. I also had my irons working. Every iron really. I hit a 5i from about 200 just to the edge of the green, a 7i 160 out of the rough to about 12 feet, constant PW either to center of greens or to 10-15 feet but I just couldn't get the putts to drop. I did sink a 40 ft to save a par on one hole that I got in trouble, but besides that I just couldn't convert any of the birdie putts. 2 three putts on the day, both hurt because take those away and I'm breaking 80. I shot an 80 on the day, 42/38. On the back I had 7 pars. Just parring everything left and right. No birdies on the day as I just couldn't get those putts to fall, but also just one double on the first hole where I sent my drive wayward.

Overall, just a great round for me right now. My driver had a left to right on it, but by bringing my hands in deep and trying to stop my steepness/OTT I was able to keep it in play, and not only in play but long. I broke 270 3 times and one time according to course yardages I was around 290 which is just insane for me as I'm usually not a very long hitter. My irons were also long. The 7i out of the rough 160 was high and landed soft. It was like the power was there when I needed it and I felt confident enough to go to it, although most of the time I just went with my normal distances. Very satisfied with this round. The putting could have been better but I'm not going to complain about an 80 right now. I'm going out to Colorado later this week and I'm going to try and get out a few times out there.

Sounds like you had fun going low - especially in the oppressive humidity. I went out at 6 AM on Sunday, and could not believe the humidity levels even that early...

Where in NH do you normally play?

I was there at 6:30 AM and by 7:30 I was cooked. I usually play at Granite Fields in Kingston. They're really good about walking on at 6 or 6:30 and getting out before any "official" tee times start at 7. For $40, it's in great shape, close to my house and I can get a round in and be home by 11 or so.

    • I'd just get the Stack Radar. I've never been totally comfortable with how it measures, those things. I think people put them in the wrong place. I think it's highly sensitive to where you swing… if you swing the tip end through the radar "beam" (it's not a beam, but you know what I mean I think), you get the true speed. But if you swing the spot 6" up the shaft through the beam, you get a much slower speed. For the wedge stuff alone I recommend the Stack Radar. Plus data entry is SOOO easy.
    • Does anyone else have the swing speed radar and had the experience of it going completely haywire? It’s been decent for me until the last 2 weeks. I’m now getting readings on back to back swings that are 20 mph off. I’m getting absolute garbage from it - I have to swing many times to get something close to right. The only thing that works (sometimes) is taking the batteries out. Here's the radar I'm talking about: Amazon.com : Swing Speed Radar - Achieve Longer Drives - Delivers Precise Golf Club Swing Speeds from 20 to 200 MPH. Master Consistency with Our US Made Doppler Radar Training Tool for Instant Speed Results : Golf Swing Trainers : Sports & Outdoors Thinking about just biting the bullet on a stack radar at this point.
    • Sorry, I missed your original post. Glad things are looking up with your wife's cancer. That's scary. Hope you can get back in to swing of things this year. I travel to Richmond quite a bit for son's soccer. I will reach out to see if we can get out together during one of the visits.
