I have been playing a draw now pretty much exclusively for around 5 years (well ever since I quit slicing the ball). I used to play a pull draw and aim way left, come over the top, pull it with a little draw. Not the most controllable shot and I wanted to go to the push draw so I could hit it higher and if I hit it straight, I am not in the trees on the left. This change has been hard. First off, I was coming over the top and that is the cause of my pulls, and secondly my eyes were so trained to aim left. I have just been struggling. So I had enough, something has to change. I noticed my good shots had just a touch of fade and being LH that is the diserable shot for most courses. I was thinking, can I move to a push fade.

So I went to the range alot in the past week, working on mostly aim and not coming up over the plane on the down swing, and I really have improved. It is hard to identify without a camera but my ball flight is so much more predictable. I am aiming around 10 yards to right with my irons, maybe 20 yards right with the driver, and hitting a really nice fade. I am overfading at times but I don't think I hit a hook at the range on Wed or at golf league on thursday.

I felt in control of the ball for the first time ever, Taking a good divot after the ball, and just played well. (I shot a 2 over 38) It wasn't like my usual low rounds were I just make everything. I did make a couple of good par putts but I also left a few shots out there. I didn't have impressive stats but it felt so much easier. My misses were a couple of pulls off the tee (not huge nasty dead right pulls like I have been hitting) but maybe 10 yards right of the fairway. I hit one over cut with the driver but hit it in a good place to miss on the hole.

It seems like there is less trouble down the left. It is easier to play this way.

I almost feel like I can play well. I going to keep at it and see if I can build on this. I am playing with some really good players on sun (0, 3, 6) so I hope I show up.

Brian
