Knuckles down?

Ok I have several questions about this? #1. Does it mean the back of my left hand is pointed at the ground at impact? If so then my swing has to be really steep. #2. if this is a good idea is it true for my driver?

The back of your left hand should be facing the initial target (where you want the ball to start in it's flight path).  Think of your left hand as in a parallel plane to the club face.  You want a flat left wrist/back of hand (for a righty) at impact in front of and leading the club face.

The 'knuckles down' thought is intended to generate lag and set you up for proper impact position.  Look for 'pump drill,' same effect.  In general, as you approach impact, think about keeping the face of your fist (proximal phalanx) toward the ground longer.

Imagine the player above continues his move into the ball without unhinging his wrists, the shaft being parallel to the ground and his left knuckles facing the ground.
