Titleist vs. Mizuno HELP

I hope this is the right thread for this question, I just joined the site. But I am really looking for new irons, I currently have Taylormade 320's and they are old as  anything and I am missing the 8 iron.. So I am in the market for new irons and hit the Titleist MB 710's and loved them, but I have also read great reviews about the Mizuno MP's

Any ideas?

Other brands I should look at

I have done research and read about every review I can as I search for a new set of irons. I don't know anything about the 2 different models you are talking about but one thing that seems to run consistant with every review I have ever read is that from a quality standpoint Mizuno make the best clubs. Guys keep them longer than any other set they have bought and as far a Titeliest goes, you have to be a lower handicapper to take advantage of the way they are built. You'll get more feel with the Titelist clubs but more enjoyment and better bang for your buck witht eh Mizunos.

Pesonally, I play with Mizuno, but only you will be able to determine what you like best.  It's kind of like comparing Lamborgini to Ferrari, not sure you can wrong with either one.

A little off topic, but huge difference in engineering theories between Lambo and Ferrari.  Lambo is not a racing company.

You looking for blades specifically or just the 710 MBs just jumped out at you? Go to any well stocked pro shop and I challenge you to not fall in love with at least 1/2 a dozen irons. There's a lot of really great "looking" stuff out there. What works for you could be any one of them, but check out the 2011 offerings all the big OEMs (Adams. TMAG, Callaway, Cleveland, Titleist of course, Nike (this is a good year for Nike stuff), Mizuno, PING S series, Wilson Staff, Bridgestone and Srixon if you can find them, etc).

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

I just joined to reply to you.

I see that you are a 10. any muscleback may be a bit too much club for you.

I play MP-30's. they are a half cavity back and I HATED them at first. Titleist makes fine clubs and some of my friends play them.

None of them, however, play musclebacks. But I digress.

My humble advice to you is to first get fitted for your irons. Shaft, grip and lie are all super important when looking for the right fit.

Mizuno has a great fitting system that in three swings picks three shaft options that will be good for you. I would recommend that in Titleist

you try the CB line as well as the AP1 and AP2 as well. Mizuno  has four very nice cavity backs Mp 53, 58,63, 68  and do not overlook the JPX-800 pro.

If you take your time and hit a bunch of clubs, you will find the ones that sing to you!!

I was a 14 when I got my mp-30's. I'm an 8 now and just ordered a new set of MP-T wedges.

You will find the right fit for you, just don't let your ego get in the way.

That may be true for a pro shop but the big chain stores have got some ugly clubs on the shelf. I am assuming these are more of a SGI club but could be wrong and will defer to your experience at the pro shops. The Adams set is really sharp looking the name alludes me I know some help since they make a few.

Well, as anyone would say, it's not the club.. it's the player. Therefore the player should probably choose the club he/she feels the most comfortable hitting. Wether for you its a Titleist MB or a Mizuno MP thats all you.

Basically you, my friend, are looking at the two top of the line sets of muscle backs, they are around the same cost.

Personally, I play Titleist CB Irons, I absolutely adore them... the thing is though, before I purchased clubs I went to the local golf shop and hit everything I could, and honestly I didn't look at the brands, I just happened to hit the Titleist the best.

Its about what works for YOU, not everyone else.

Good post Mitch. If I could add the obvious shopping for new clubs is always fun. Trying others toys is great. Hit free clubss for awhile and enjoy.

I got my AP2s custom fitted ; 2 degrees flat with std length and reg shaft : I love the way they help me lift the ball in the air and drop softly. Suddenly i am more confident about landing greens 150 yards out! The feel when you hit the sweet spot is like hot knife through butter! I dont care what the other irons feel like.. if i can hit these well thats all i need.

70% of golf is within 125 yards and thats all wedges and the putter... for the rest I love the AP2s with there feel, nice ball flight and slight forgiveness.

      PGA Tour Makes Sweeping Changes Starting in 2028

      The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.

      Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.
