I am about to build a set of Wishon 560MCs (#3-PW) and looking to install steel shafts in them.

My swing speed in between 72-75 mph with a #5 iron and hit it between 150-155 yards. My takeaway is slow, but my downswing is more faster and fairly aggressive. My tendency to hit irons high and sometimes hit them to the right. Looking for distance and better accuracy. Also, what swingweight do you recommend for my type of swing? I am 62 years old, but in very good shape.

Here is a list of STEEL SHAFTS which I have:

TRUE TEMPER --- MULTI-STEP TX-90 TT-XL DYNALITE DYNALITE GOLD

RIFLE --- 4.5 FLEX

FST ---- PRO WHITE STEPLESS SATIN SILVER

MERCURY --- SAVAGE

I would like your recommendations!!

spend the time with a fitting pro, the information that you mentioned is helpful but not enough.. find someone with a launch monitor and that will get you the right shaft for you and your swing..

Lew,

I would narrow down your choices a bit, drop all the shafts except the True Temper Dynalite Gold and Rifle 4.5. The other shafts aren't worth the time and effort. Two other shafts I would highly reccomend you look into are Nippon golf's NS950 and True Temper's M80. I think either shaft would be a great shaft for you, both are light weight, responsive, extremely high quality, but are still very easy to control.

Hey Lew - I'm in the same boat. I've just received 7-AW in the 560MC's. I am going to be visiting with a club fitter to get properly fit for the shafts. But basically, I'm interested in a lightweight steel shaft (as if that narrows it down!!).

I've also got 4-6 iron in the Wishon 785HF's. Same situation with picking a shaft.

I just about hijacked your thread asking about the use of a launch monitor and fitting irons, but I'll start another thread to have my question answered appropriately.

Enjoy the 560's!!! Wishon is just releasing their 2007 catelogue. I'm eager to check it out.

    • Day 622 - 2026-06-16 Played 16 holes. We skipped 10 and 11. Backswing is good. Most of the time.
    • Day 287 6-16 Full, fast swings with controlling low point. Did ok just wasnt feeling it tonight. Recorded swing, no ball.
    • I'm good with the bunkers, and the fairways are SUPER wide. Three yards should stop a ball that isn't landing in it from rolling into the hay.
    • I'm a little behind, but I just finished listening to the episode about practicing while on vacation.  I have two vacations coming up this month that I won't be bringing golf clubs with me on, and this was perfectly timed (I'm sure I am not the only one going on vacation in June).   Especially the part about stretching.  I keep putting off adding stretching, with golf in mind, to my daily routine.  I think I'm going to use these upcoming vacations, the first of which I'm flying off to on Thursday, as a way to get into this habit.   For anyone else interested, Fit For Golf (see sidebar) has fantastic stretching routines (some of which, I think, are on their free area).  I really should get back to doing their main exercises too.  I don't have any affiliation with them beyond "satisfied customer," in case that sounds like an ad. I may end up posting in the 5 minutes thread when I do golf stretches if it's my only practice that day... as if I don't already sound like a broken mp3 with my 10-15 minutes hitting indoors part. And back to the topic:  anyone not caught up on the podcast should consider catching up and listen to that episode, especially if you're going on a non-golf vacation this summer and want some practice ideas that aren't the at-home practice routine from LSW about long bunker shots (which I am sure we all do regularly).
    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
