My iPod has sudennly decided to freeze up on me!

I tried reseting the Ipod, waiting until its batteries went dead, and more.

My uncle had the same problem and could never fix it.

I am considering switching to a zune if I can't fix it.

If you have any idea how to fix the problem please respond.

On the other hand, if you have a comment about the zune or any other cool mp3 players, that would also be appreciated.

I had a player do that to me last year. I found out that it had picked that time to kick the bucket. I found my was to a SanDisk Sansa player. comes in 2, 4, 6, and 8, Gig. Works with Rhapsody music service, or with Windows Media player. Rhapsody should recognize your itunes library if you change.

Don't know much about the Zune. I do know that Microsoft released it for the holidays, and didn't bother to make it Windows Vista capable. (sheesh) develop an mp3 player, and don't write the software to work on your own hot new product.

Hope this helps!

What ipod do you have?
I am going to assume you are using it with a PC and not a MAC.
There are a few things you can do.
First, take it into a MAC authorized store and hook it up to one of their macs. (Or any MAC that has itunes - at school or a library) It won't recognize it at first, and will ask you to initialize it.
This will basically make it compatible with a MAC, but not your PC. Then take it home and plug it back into your PC, and re-initialize it for use on your PC.
You will have to reload all your tunes, as initialization will effectively erase and re-write your ipods hard drive, but that should work.

If it isn't very old, take it into a mac store and tell them what is wrong - it still may be under warranty and they may have some other options.

First off, have you tried the key combination to reboot the iPod?

Second, visiting an Apple store is unnecessary. You can plug your iPod into your PC, run the latest iPod software updater , and either completely reset the iPod or just update it.

Iacas' recommendation is correct... download & install the latest iPod software updater, then connect the iPod to your computer and let the sw reset the device and update the sw on the iPod. That should do it. It worked for my Ver 2 iPod when it froze last summer.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
    • I have access to far more data (including surveys and polls) than you do with your anecdotes. I mean this as plainly and literally as possible: you’ve demonstrated that you do not. They would, one way or the other.
