Okay so my putting stroke has completely left me over the last month, its pathetic.  I was messing around on the putting green today and I started using my driver as a belly putter...I was putting almost as well with that as I was with my regular putter, and I was actually making more putts within 10 feet. I figure if i can put that well with a driver a belly putter would have to be beneficial..even though I've always thought belly putters were always a gimmick, I really think I might give one a shot now.  Does anyone have any experience at all with a belly putter?

I have used a 41" putter since 1989, I practice with my signature putter ,but only use it on fast greens.  The 41" putter I have been using for 4 years is a Ping DOC17. From 1989 to 2007 I used a Branding Iron from Dynacraft. Both of them are face balanced,  I use a very stiff shaft(called ski pole shaft-by some companies) http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_SKP_A_cn_E_686

I use a 21" Winn grip with flat side facing hole(face and flat side of grip are parallel)-- http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_WBPBR

I use the 41" like a short version of 48". I grab the top of grip with my left thumb on grip end.  I split my right hand  down the shaft while holding putter between my forefinger and index finger(like holding a cigarette) and place my palm against the grip. The stroke is straight and straight in a pendulum motion.

I also have the head bent very upright. If possible bent to 79* which is USGA max.

DTG will make this putter at 41" and with 21" grip. Call them for price

Did you try a belly putter yet?  I heard a stat that 23% of the field was using longer putters at a PGA Tour event recently!

Yeah tried one at a golf store and I was putting a little better but I'm thinking im just going to put the hard work into my stroke because I use to be a real good putter (under 30 just about every round) and slowly but surely I am making some progress back to where I was.

We have a solution for you, our long putters are adjustable. The top grip is adjustable up to 6 inches so you can putt with it till you find the length that is best for you, we send you the epoxy to glue it at that length. Rules state it must be permanent shaft length to be legal. You would get the instructions on how to do it, simple. Check us out or contact me if I can help.

    • I believe I have finally figured out the grip! And I can tell a difference when it’s not right. I’d like to thank Erik for all of his patience and my supporters @GolfLug & @boogielicious for being there in my low spots. Of course, my wife & kids for the hours spent watching me grip a club incorrectly, quietly mocking me but not out loud.
    • Shot an 89, 12.2 differential.
    • There's no such thing as the spirit of the rule. And, you do realize how insanely small the time window and the level of water is for water to come up with one person standing there but not another person, right? It's basically never going to actually happen like that. There are lots of rules like this: a 7' tall person's knee height drop is from higher up than a 4' tall junior's drop. Their driver is also longer, so they get a larger relief area. What are you gonna do? Beyond that, my reply to you is the same as @DaveP043's: write a better one. This one is easy to understand and enforce. The penalty for playing from a wrong place is two strokes, so no, it's not significant. In that sense, the potential advantage must be > 2 strokes. No, it's not "irrespective of it." That's why the penalty exists. If it's significant, it's a DQ, which is the ultimate penalty. See above. They don't need to judge that. No, he didn't. He could have taken one stroke to drop in the same place. This was already stated. Instead, he paid two. Of course they do.
    • Yes, a ball going faster will go farther… but it's nearly impossible for "all other parameters" to remain the same. "A ball going faster with the same of everything else will go farther" is pretty rudimentary stuff. The entire swing. The handle moves the whole time. The golf swing is a matter of both translational and rotational forces. And yet it's also kicked out a little, as it's not directly behind the motion of the hand path at that instant.
    • bought a used epic driver 3 years ago treated me well i am 72 bought with senior shaft a friend of bought a brand new  ping 440 claims he hits straighter and added 10 to 15 yards on his drive i know drivers are the most frequent club bought is a new driver that much better
