Hello everyone,

I'd like some input on my swing, if possible. I'm currently a 9 handicap and my average distance off the tee is around 265-270 with the occasional 290 bomb. The obvious flaw I've noticed is my bent left arm (which is surprisingly straight at impact). But if you guys could give me any tips or drills that would help improve my game, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Two things right off the bat are that your feet are aimed to the right of the target (closed), and your shoulders are lined up left of the target (open). Some alignment sticks should help with that.

Also, for someone who looks fairly fit, you don't seem to have a ton of body rotation, which is why I think your left arm tends to bend. Take one of the aforementioned alignment sticks, hold it across your shoulders in front of your chest with you arms crossed, and try to get the stick to point to the ball or even your right foot. Get the feeling of that, then start making a couple of practice swings where you feel that same thing, but with your left arm pushing out away from your body. The floatie drill Michael Breed preaches about will really work for that as well. Keeping your right elbow from bending will definitely keep your left from building as well.

And the last thing I see, is you are fall back behind the ball with your head as you come to and through the ball on your downswing. The gap in the trees behind the center of your head will show you just how much your head not only moves off of the ball at takeaway, but then falls back further in your downswing. I bet your miss is a big snap hook. There are a ton of drills on this site that will help with keeping your weight centered and moving forward in the downswing. Hope that will help out.

Your desire to change has to be greater than your desire to stay the same.
