I have only been playing for a few months, but I have been practicing pretty regularly. A friend of mine gave me a beginner set of clubs to play with. I am 19 and pretty agile. My natural swing speed is pretty fast, as is most peoples my age. I am pretty sure my clubs I am using now are regular flex(could possibly be ladies because I know my friend coaches a mens and ladies golf team) and I think this may pose a problem for me. I would commonly slice the ball when using my natural swing. A buddy of mine told me that it was because of my shaft flexing too much and I could fix it if I slowed my swing down. I took his advice and slowed my swing down a whole lot. Now I hit the ball straight and it goes where I want it to. Only problem is that I just don't feel comfortable swinging at that speed... nor does my ball go very far on a drive(about 200yds). My natural swing is no where near my full swing anyways... so the swing I am using right now is like snail speed for me.

I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to a stiff shaft on just my driver. I don't have the money for a full set of shafts. If it is worth it, which shaft should I look at? Should I buy a new or pulled shaft? Also, since I don't plan on keeping my beginner driver for a long time, will I be able to transfer the shaft to a new driver?

If you can swing it, you might want to consider getting a used set of clubs that match your swing speed and upgrade the shaft in your driver. That would be less expensive than changing all the shafts in your iron set. Make sure you get in front of golf swing monitor to determine your swing speed...

You can check ebay and find some deals on some forgiving irons like Cleveland Launcher irons...

What's a good place to find a golf swing monitor? I don't have access to a country club.

Most reputable golf stores should have them...Edwin Watts, Golfsmith, etc...

    • Update:   From my lesson I mentioned to the coach the regrip and he spotted me doing it as I placed my right hand on the grip of all places 🀣 we worked to maintain the left hand and weaken the right, slightly weaker face angle at parallel and holding the face open through impact, nice straight fades, some small some big but a big departure from the duck hooks. Now just need to slowly dial it back to either a manageable fade or straight-ish
    • I use four different sharpie markings on my golf balls. A single black dot on each side near the number, flourencent yellow along the alignment, and a series of 5 to 6 dots on the opposite side from the alignment. I've found that after applying markings, it's best to hit em with a hair dryer and allow 24 hours to cure before playing. This should cut down dramatically on transfer. It's also a good idea to make sure your sharpie's are fresh, not old.

    • Going to go against the grain a bit here and say that pain isn't as severe as we think it is sometimes.  A lot of times if something has been there for a long time it is really neurological.  Unless a sports med tells you it's likely to tear I would keep going with physio until a doctor tells you not to.  Good luck
