I kind of figured the ping would not absord that much. They have been making the Blackout for ever and I have to figure they have never upgraded the model with new technology. Maybe I am phrasing this all wrong.

My entire (albeit short) golf career I have been using Winn Grip type grips. I have used standard Odyssey grips, Winn Grips, Winn Grip AVS, Mid Sized AVS Win Grips. The only grip I did not like was the original Cleveland Classic Golf Pride grip. It was red and way too firm.

I dont mind feed back on my putts, infact I think I need feedback. I just dont want my putts to feel like I am holding onto an ungripped putter, (kind of like taking batting practice in early april with an old wood bat and catching the ball up on the hands).

I am going over to GG on my lunch break to feel the Lamkin, if I am not impressed I am going to with the Ping!!!

I can always put the Lamkin on my backup putter!

In my Grom:

Driver-Taylormade 10.5 Woods- Taylomade 3 wood, taylormade 4 Hybrid
Irons- Callaway Big Berthas 5i - GW Wedges- Titles Volkey  Putter- Odyssey protype #9
Ball- Bridgestone E6
All grips Golf Pride

I understand where you are coming from. Used lots of softer Winn grips in the past, many oversized, used a Tiger Shark, all kinds of grips. Over the years with much experimentation, I found the slimmer, firmer grips gave me far better results. While I like the way the larger grips feel while holding the putter, they muted my feedback. As I said earlier, it is that feedback that gives me control over my distance. I am a bigger guy and fought this hard, then finally gave in. The midsize Iomics and Pingmans give me much better distance control.

I went to GG on my lunch break and was not impressed with the Lamkin smooth paddle. It seemed dusty and slippery.

I am thinking of trying the Golf Pride Players Wrap .  I checked it out at Dicks and I am thinking of giving it another chance.

I just want to compare the Players Wrap with the Ping Black out.

I just find it tough to judge a grip, when you never get to try it on the club. But from what I am hearing the Players wrap is better than the pingman (ping blackout) but the Iomic is better than all of them. However I can not afford an Iomic!

Ended up going with the Golf Pride Players wrap.

I am not disappointed. It is a tremendous grip!

I finally got around to putting a true round, non-tapered grip on my putter.  A Grip One non-tapered oversized grip.  This setup is the BOMB!!  Just the right diameter, tacky, but doesn't collect dust like some of my other putter grips.  And at $2.49, I bought several.  Golfworks was also having a $0.99 sale on the Black Widow Tour Silk grips in black and white, so I bought a crap load of those too!

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
