Hey guys, this is my third season. Never had a lesson but intend to at some point. I see early extension and im too closed at impact. But no idea why and how to improve my swing. I will defer to the experts. Please don't be too harsh!!

also, if someone could tell me how to stop doing the sawed off finish that would be great. I do not want to be the second charlie wi.

I've been Playing Golf for: 2+ years

My current handicap index or average score is: 95-100

My typical ball flight is: draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: improve distance and overall consistency

Well...where to start.

While I applaud you for making contact ......your swing is really in need of a few major fundamental changes.  I'm no expert....but here is what I can see.

1) Your take away looks like your hips push your arms back.  Try pulling the club back with your arms in conjunction with turning your hips (think coiling like a spring).

2) Your swing plane is flat and there is zero wrist action.

3) It looks like you are doing a basket toss of some kind.  I don't know if I have the ability to give you advice on that.

Basically, I would start by looking at your swing in comparison to a professionals swing.  Or it may be one of those times where a single lesson from a Pro can change your game.

I gotta say this though......there is potential with your coordination to hit the ball.

Keep Calm and Chive On!

    • Day 45 (27 Dec 25) - played at one of the sisters courses to my home course.  Solid session through the bag….of the 7 pars, 4 were up and down 1 putts (wedges were dialed in) from 6’ or less.  Off the tee - solid, irons were consistent even it a bit under on distances.  Course management was on - stayed the course even with a few offline recovery shots required…
    • Day 453 - 2025-12-27 Two things today for about 48 balls (I like to hit three or six balls at a time before taking a small break to pick them up): Right leg stays flexed a bit, internal rotation on the backswing. Kept my eyes looking at the ball and trusted that the backswing was fine.
    • Day 137 12-27 Worked on wider backswing today and tried to remain flowy. Recorded face on and down the line. Swing is looking better but I mentally felt off today, just frustrated. Tomorrow's a new day!
    • Day 8 - 2025-12-27 45 minutes of short game work at local muni, mostly putting work. Trying to get lots of reps in with consistent quality tempo.
    • I guess I'll stay at -16 for this year's challenge.  I never birdied holes 7, 13 (the 2 hardest holes) in 2025.  Also had a couple Eagle putts on the par 5's, but didn't convert either time.  Looking forward to 2026, though!
