Hi all,

I'm just picking up the golf game, but I'm fairly vertically challenged. Probably top off at about 5'3 or so, if I'm lucky? I manage to get by for certain sports by picking up gear for juniors (ie, shoes/shorts), so I'm wondering what the exact difference is between a good quality set of golf clubs for juniors/womens/men? Looking to pick up a set of second hand clubs, and it seems that there's a lot of good ones out there for womens/juniors out there for sale on the cheap?

Assuming the length is alright, is there anything wrong with me using junior/women's clubs? I would assume that all things considered, all clubs would have the same head technology regardless of which demographic its meant for?

I hope people will answer, and then promptly forget about this topic, so when I post later, this won't come back to haunt me :P

The ladies shafts might give you problems with the flex. But why not get fitted. That would tell you the length and flex of clubs you need. You might be fine with the jr clubs, but you might be better with regular clubs that are cut down to size.

    • Its not. They are just giving an example in a situation say if cant reach it. Example, You have 230 to the center of the green, you cant hit a club you have that far, so you whip out a 3/5 wood or whatever, but you have to hit it soft because there is trouble in front of the green, a bunker or water. A full swing would land you in the trouble. You want to lay up as close to the green as you can. So you aren't hitting a full shot with that club so for distance tracking you can make that shot a provisional and it wont affect the distance stats.

    • I had a 5 wood.  Now have moved onto hybrids and have a 4 hybrid.  As I get older a more lofted hybrid and/or 7 and 9 woods will come into my bag.  I have learnt that as swing speed declines, loft is your friend
