hi everyone, i am pretty much new to golf, only been out a few times using my dad's old clubs.  anyway, i've decided to invest in a new driver, but i am on a limited budget.  i have been contemplating two options; buying a cheap new driver (the local sporting goods store has some power bilt drivers for about $60-70), or buying a used one online, but a brand like callaway, taylormade, etc...  what would you guys do? i've been looking at this one http://www.2ndswing.com/p-135721-taylormade-r5-dual-driver-10-5-graphite-regular-right.aspx .  if you guys have an opinion on what i should do or a specific used driver i should look at it, your input would be appreciated.

Sports Authority has cheap ones 40-60$, not top brands for those prices.. but they are available.

That store also has a lot of clearance and formerly used clubs iron sets,[mine does], where you can buy top brands for a cheaper price.

I got my driver, at $99 from Golfsmith. Callaway ft-iz, 9degree, reg flex. Brand new. [recently] love it, and it was down from $399 or something like that. [older model im assuming]

As a new golfer completely.. Don't go all out just yet.. and golfsmith is a pricey place tbh.. but they have some decent prices on used ironsets.

that driver looks nice, how much does it go for? I couldnt find a price on the link.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
