HackerUpNorth... Welcome to TST.  You look like a big athletic dude.  I think you have potential... We just gotta clean up your mechanics.

1.) Your grip is VERY strong.  I'd weaken that left hand a little. Here are some photos of how the left hand should connect onto the club:

a.) The left index finger - the first joint should be on the front (target) side of the shaft.  As can be seen in the photo.

b.) The grip should run from that index finger joint - up through the meaty part of the palm on the left hand.

c.) The 'V' formed by the left thumb and index finger - should point at your right shoulder.

2.) Your head moves off the ball - by approximately 4 to 6" - laterally to the right (away from the ball).  You can see at the top of the backswing - your left foot is lifting off the ground - meaning your weight is heavily shifted to the right.  Try working on a centered pivot and keeping your weight on your left foot.  This will help you with a centered pivot and maintaining weight on your left side.

Here is an excellent thread for you the check out...

Hello all, I just went outside and recorded a few swings with my iron, wanted to know what advice you guys could give me?  Any pointers, things to work on, things I do well?

thank you

I have a driver swing thread from when I first joined, but only had one reply.  I wanted to start fresh with an iron swing, and get replies.

Might get more replies if you post video of hitting balls with your real swing, maybe on a golf course.

could be I'm over 6'3" and thats a pitching wedge?

heres some actual swings at the driving range, with the same club.  I just noticed I'm trying real hard to keep my backfoot still, and didn't realize its causing my front foot to move now.

I'm going to guess you haven't been to a clubfitter......

not for irons, for driver only.  My clubs are 1/2 "long, but i have longer legs and not really long arms, so I could possibly need even longer clubs?

Most off the rack stuff is made for people of average height, about 69".   I am 70" tall, but my reach is 76" and I play standard length.  I would suspect you may need longer shafts.
