I know that few care about the AAA Tour, but there are some awfully good players on it and there is a lot at stake for them this week.

Top 25 get their PGA Tour Cards for next year.  With the leaders on #9, numbers 22-25 could move down and be replaced by #26 Doub Labelle II and several others.

26-40 (and anyone inside the top 25 looking to improve their position) are exempt into Q School finals.

Rookie Luke Guthrie, who turned pro in June and won almost 300 K in 3 Tour events before playing 10 Web.com events, has a chance to take the Web.com $ title (which comes with an invite to the Players).  Casey Martin is currently #1 but trailing Guthrie this week.  Russell Henley, who won as an amateur last year, has taken 2 of the last 3 web.com titles to move to #3 on the money list is also in great position.  Martin, 27, struggled during his first stint on Tour, but I expect the two rookies to have nice Tour careers.

Justin Bolli and Adam Hadwin who are having a good week to make a late charge at getting their cards or at least cracking the top 40 to get a second chance at Q school finals.

I enjoy watching these guys.  Fun to see some different player and how they handle the pressure of graduating to the big tour.  Some good video of James Hahn

Mike McLoughlin

Nice...even though he has lost his lead, Hahn will be playing with the big boys next year.  It looks like Morgan Hoffman might also get his card.  He didn`t have status at the beginning of the year, but is in good position in only his 13th event (plus a t29 at the US Open).

Wittenberg hung onto the $ list with Hoffman and Labelle moving up along with tourney winner Bolli to earn their cards.

I think Adam Hadwin has to be the most frustrated...he was sitting in the club house t2 needing Hahn to make a par or worse on 18 to get his card as #25...Hahn made a birdie to take 2nd and Hadwin dropped to #30 on the $ list with his t3.  Hadwin has won $460 K in only 7 PGA Tour starts, so I was hoping he would get his card.  Hopefully he will get it done at Q school.  I think Jim Herman owes Hahn a beer or two.

Camilo Benedetti was #25 going into the week, and made what seemed like a clutch birdie on 18 to finish t19 this week, but still came up 1 K short.

Lexi Thompson`s brother Nicolas is headed back to the PGA Tour along with several of the guys who have been in the #26 position before, so good for them.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
