Gamer V2 2010 vs 2012

Is there much difference? I'm having a hard time finding the newer version for less than $20 a dozen.

i'm wondering the same thing.  hell, how do i tell if i got the 2010 or 2012 version?  i just bought two boxes...they were the black box, so i think they are the newer version of the ball (i thought the green box was the original)

but i'm not as smart as i look, so...

Key thing is to get Gamer.v2, not the original. The .v2 version carries a little farther, and normally doesn't shred any

when you juice a short iron or wedge shot.

The outer box differerences are likely an ecology move. The new black outer box for the four sleeves opens at end flaps, rather than having a separate top lid and bottom. Probably cuts down amount of cardboard used by 40%.

I think you're right.. If TF had made even a cosmetic tweak to the ball, it would have been rechristened "Gamer.V3" with related marketing hoopla and a special monogrammed golf cap.

The V2 comes in 2 different boxes, the green box is older version, black is new.  I don't know if they changed the ball characteristics but it's not uncommon for manufacturers to do so without changing the name.  I found out there are 7 different versions of the Titleist NXT-Tour (first version was 2 piece, rest are 3) out there and the only visible difference between them is the ball alignment symbol pattern.

I've had some V2's in green boxes and some V2's in black boxes.  The green boxed balls had a different alignment marking on them (arrows in both directions) than the the black boxed version (arrow in only one direction).    That said, both were marketed as a 3 piece ball with the dimple-in-a-dimple technology and they both played the same for me.

If the alignment marking is different they are different versions but that doesn't mean the play characteristics were changed.  In the case of the NXT-Tour, play characteristics did change from version to version according to Golf Magazine though I didn't notice the difference when I played them.

From the limited research I've done on it, the only difference between the 2010 Gamer V2 and 2012 Gamer V2 is cosmetic... As others have said the 2010 version comes in a green box where the newer ones come in a more eco-friendly black box; in addition to that the side stamp has changed as well.

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
