I'm not too keen on what different features in a shaft do. i.e. Kick point, soft tips vs. hard, or anything else. I assume this is something I need to pay attention to, so someone take me to school!

I'll give you tips related to my swing...

I tend to be handsy through the ball and flip it, so I like a club that is tip stiff. If you have a slower swing speed, you probably will want a softer tip. The lower the kickpoint, the lower the club tends to bend closer to the head. Most tour players and guys with higher swing speeds will tend to have a higher kick point.

      New Maxfli Forged Irons - $800!

      I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
