Hey all,

I'm new to the Forums and I'm enjoying reading and finding some great advice on the site.  I'm in need of a little advice / help in a certain area.  I need to purchase a new shaft for my R11 driver and I'm having a little trouble.   I don't have the time or money to go and do an actual fitting.  I would love to, but it's not possible at this time.   The standard/factory length shaft for the R11 was way too long for me.   Here are my measurements.

Height = 5.5"
Wrist to floor = 30"

90 mph swing speed

I was thinking of ordering a shaft that would put me at full driver length (including head ) to be at 43.75".

Am I close on this by my measurements?  And what should I have the shaft cut to to reach my total desired length?  shaft + adapter + head

Also, can someone point me in a direction of a lower to midrange priced shaft that still has some quality?   I'm looking for a mid trajectory with something in the 55 to 60 grams area and my usual ball flight is a baby draw.

Sorry this is so long and thanks for the help.

Welcome!

I'm also new to the forum and I think I can help you.

The overall length of a standard Taylormade R11 is 45.75" The entire R11 length is made up of 3 different measurement.

Shaft (only):    44"         Adapter Tip:    1.25"         Driver Head:    1.50"

44" + 1.25" +  1.50"   =   46.75"   -   1"   = 45.75"

The 1" subtraction comes from the insertion of the shaft into the adapter tip.

So, to have an overall length of 43.75" you subtract the driver head, then adapter tip, and add 1" for the shaft.

43.75"  -  1.50"   -   1.25"  =  41.00"       +        1"        =     42"

For your desired length, shaft with adapter tip should be 42.25" and shaft without adapter tip should be 42"

( note: Finished length can vary depending on how it's measured. Grip vs. no grip, USGA methond, etc.. )

As for cutting the shaft, let me just say..shaft manufactures routinely cut shafts down and do so before they sell them..So, don't listen to the naysayers! In my experience, if you cut 1" or less off, you won't be able to tell a difference in flex, trajectory, etc. BUT I wouldn't consider doing anything over 1"!

I would definitely check this website and Ebayl! I hope i was able to help you out! Good luck!
