Hey there folks. As a recent college graduate I decided to reward myself with some new irons as the old Titliest 990s I had been playing for the past 6 years have seen better days. I went to Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Northern California to demo some different clubs. I knew that I wanted to upgrade to blade irons in order to challenge and better my game. After hitting different irons I fell in love with the Titleist MB irons and bought a set from my local Golf Headquarters in Reno. I have played 4 rounds with the irons now and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I shot 84, 81, 95 (my driving/ short game's fault), and 73 (woo!) respectively.

Having blades has forced me to focus on controlling my swing tempo and creating solid contact because, as some of you may know, miss-hits are very unforgiving. My friends ask if my distance has increased and I'm not convinced that it has. I think that my focus on solid, pure contact has allowed me to get a bit more distance. The spin and control on these bad boys is phenomenal when I connect with the ball.

So I guess the point of this thread is to share how stoked I am on my new clubs and that if you happen to be considering getting blades, but don't think you're ready, I say go for it. Use the blades to improve your game and allow yourself to grow with them. I don't actively keep a handicap but my last 4 rounds (see above) are pretty indicative of my game... minus that 95, that sucked. Some folks may think that only a scratch player can use blades, but I disagree. At this point in my game I know that short game and accuracy off the tee is that which I need to focus in order to keep shooting scores like that 73 (which is my 'career' low).

Cheers

I'll have to check them out. I'll hopefully be getting new clubs next year. As for now, I have some old Arnold Palmer Charger II blades that I use to practice my ball striking. It's funny though because the bladed 7-iron is only as long as my PW in the actual set I play with.

Great to hear! I just got a set of MP 62's for the range to make my swing more consistent. Not quite ready for true blades yet. I still plan on using my AP1's on the course though.
