So I just bought a Taylormade Ghost Spider S (34" Slant)

So far, so good, lining up fits my eye better than any so far (can line up to the hole and not just 'pick a spot' a couple feet away and get similar or even better results....etc).

It's a win.  I don't plan any adjustments, so the question below is hypothetical.  Or a prelude to just playing with the new toy.

it has adjustable weights.  It came with 2x 2g weights installed (trailing edge corners).  Can buy weights up to, I think (4, 6 ,8, 10, .....16g)

It's a 360 gram head to start with already!

1 - I can see maybe messing with the amount of inequality in the left vs right weights would  fine tune torque response on contact......

but when I do google searches on the topic I'm seeing people just switching out in matching pairs and talking about how they are fine tuning the roll of the ball on various stimps.....(take out the 2g and install 8g (+12g) and noting how it's SO MUCH better than the 10g (8g vs 10g is only 4g Difference (2 weights)) - 4g adjust to a 360 baseline......

is it just placebo?  (I'm ok with that, placebo=confidence=better putting)

I'd like to understand the physics - I like to play around with the options, but is it an exercise just for fun or will it really matter vs just having good hands.  I was also liking just the feel of a heavier putter, but I don't think just in the insertable weights is enough for the tangible difference I want to find.

for that matter - where would I find a set of various weight pairs and a wrench to maybe just play with it?  are these the same ones that they use in the drivers?

If I do have any complaints regarding the putter it would have to do with the putter being a hair too light. The standard weights that came with the putter are 2 gram, I removed them and put in 10 gram weights. I also added some counterweight to the putter to help with the static weight of the putter. After making these adjustments the putter felt really good and performed much better.
