I've been Playing Golf for: 20 years very infrequently, 7 years regularly My current handicap index or average score is: 7.8 My typical ball flight is: slight draw, good height with shorter irons but tendency to hit too low/skiddy with longer irons (not enough compression?) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: not enough compression with longer irons - feels like I have picked it off the turf. Also pull mid-iron shots sometimes. I would love to hear your thoughts/comments. Thanks in advance. [rule] Videos:

... add this piece/feel to you downswing...

Mike - You have picked up on exactly the aspect of my swing that I don't like - the cramped look and feel of my follow-through and my lack of hip turn/release (even though it feels to me like I am turning/releasing). Thank you! But can you please elaborate on the triggers that are necessary to achieve this better shape/move? Thanks again. Matt

Thank you!

Thanks again.

Definitely watch the video I posted and this one :-)

The "trigger" that is necessary is to get the weight forward at impact. So on the downswing you are "pressing" into your left foot, left quad. Notice how "heavy" the player's left leg looks on the right.

Having the weight forward gives you the "thrust" you need to then extend the legs and stretch the hips up and forward.

Thanks. I do know that feeling - when I remember to do it. And when I do, it makes such a big improvement. But sometimes I need to be told things in black and white for it to sink in. I will work on these moves! Matt
