A very new member, living in Ireland. Always have a few days in Sebring when in Florida. Golf Hammock is a lovely place to play golf. As are all the courses in this area. Mind you golf is always better in wonderful weather. Both of the Highland Ridge Courses, The Country Club, Sun and Lakes are all terrific places to play golf.
Anybody who lives in Florida is wonderfully lucky from the point of view of weather and great golf. 1st. February next trip. Can't come soon enough.
Regards
Roger

My first 18 holes in Highlands County was at Golf Hammock. I live just outside that neighborhood. I play it last year and was extremely green as it was only my second round ever and my first was about 10 years prior at one of the courses on Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. I didn't get the bug until March, when I played the San Diego muni course during a food show convention.

I consider Country Club of Sebring to be my "home" course as I have now played all 18 holes twice (9 hole rounds for the summer league). My boss-in-law lives there. I take my son to taekwondo at Sun N Lake and do most of my driving and putting practice there once or twice a week.

I will be playing in Sebring June 17 - 19 with a bunch of buddies and we are starting at the hammock. Then we go to I think Highlands north and south for Sat.and sunday is up in the air. How are these golf courses, are the greens fast, wide open, etc. Just really want to know what I am going to see out there.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
